Pornhub Reveals Nearly Half of Gay Porn Viewers Are Women
New statistics from Pornhub have revealed that 47 per cent of the site’s gay male porn audience are women—shedding fresh light on long-standing trends in adult content consumption and challenging assumptions about who watches what.
Published as part of Pornhub’s annual Pride Insights, the report offers a glimpse into the evolving viewing habits of LGBTQ+ audiences and their allies.
Since we could only speculate, we asked a dozen women to share why they watch—and in many cases prefer viewing—two dudes go to town on one another. Also, because I’m a cisgender woman, I can sometimes tell in porn if the women featured are faking or overdoing it because I have personally been in that position before.
But what is a little surprising is that that women are watching gay porn, too.
Cory: Anywhere from 20-30%.
Lera: I jump around from video to video, but gay male porn is always present, with bi male porn taking preference recently. In fact, it is a category that over the years has begun to be developed by women for women. In her 2018 book Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys, academic Lucy Neville surveyed more than 500 women and found that many were drawn to gay porn simply because “a good number… like looking at naked men.”
Neville also explained that gay porn helps challenge the typical “male gaze” embedded in mainstream straight porn, which often caters exclusively to heterosexual men.
So, 100% as I watch it every time, or about 50%, as that is the approximate breakdown of the type of videos I watch.
Sonia: A good 50-60%. This is why I now prefer bi male porn with one woman and two or more men.
Lera: The fact that there is no woman being "used" is important.

Feminist porn director, Nica Noelle, who is one of the only leading women creating romantic gay male porn in the industry, explained in an interview with VICE why gay porn has such a large straight female following.

“The statistic thrown around now is that 1 in 3 adult users of porn are female,” sex therapist Kimberly Resnick Anderson told in a Huffpost article.
That's why it comes as no surprise that lesbian porn has consistently dominated PornHub searches for well over a decade. I suppose watching it also satisfies voyeuristic tendencies as well.
